The Big Band
The University Big Band is made up of University students and graduates. In 2018 the Big Band celebrated its 20th anniversary. The Band’s artistic achievements include numerous concerts in Poland and abroad. Whoever hears them perform live even once, falls in love with them for ever. The band has performed with such eminent jazz musicians as Urszula Dudziak, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Krystyna Prońko, Lora Szafran, Ewa Uryga, Marek Bałata, Andrzej Dąbrowski, Krzysztof Kiliański, Adam Makowicz, Janusz Szrom, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski. The ensemble has won many awards at festivals in Poland and abroad. Their concert of Christmas carols recorded in Gdańsk Philharmonic and Pelplin Basilica a few years ago, has been broadcast several times by various TVP channels. Every year the Big Band’s inaugural concert opens the ‘Green Town of Jazz’ festival, which enjoys enormous popularity.
